Nguyen The Phuong is expert on all aspects of patent/design law and practice including preparation of patent/design applications, patent drafting, patent counseling, patentability searching, re-examination, preparing opinion on validity, non-infringement and freedom-to-operate and patent due diligence. His primary focus is on litigating complex electrical, mechanical, automatic, and computer software patents. Additionally, Mr. Phuong drafts opinions and counsels both domestic and foreign clients on patent portfolio development, intellectual property issues related to various corporate transactions, licensing, litigation avoidance, risk management, and post-litigation tactics.

Before joining with NTT as a Head of NTT’s Patent Department, Mr. Phuong had worked in a number of challenging but rewarding positions for Vietnam Electricity Corp. such as Technical Team Lead of Northern power corporation (EVN) for 6 years, Senior Project Management of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Projects Management Board (EVN) for 7 years.

EDUCATION

Mr. Phuong earned his Bachelor of automatic electric from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2001 and Bachelor of Law from Hanoi Law University in 2008. In 2012, he obtained his master of construction project management from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Besides, he was granted QMS IS09001, project management, quantity surveyor and building certificates.
